Scope & Content |
One of Joseph G. Patterson's letters home and his commemorative Gettysburg survivor's ribbon make up this collection. Joseph was a member of the 90th Pennsylvania Volunteers, having mustered into "I" Co. on September 24, 1861. His letter, dated July 17, 1863, contains his account of his experiences at the Battle of Gettysburg. Included with the letter is the transmittal envelope, with cancelled postage stamp. The multi-color fabric ribbon (2002.322.02) is dated 1888. Photocopies of the 90th Pennsylvania regimental history and service records are also included for the researcher's convenience. |
